Meta has enabled voice interaction with its Muse AI agent on iOS, featuring animated avatars and customizable voice tones, with plans to extend the feature to AI glasses and the upcoming Muse Charm device.

Meta has expanded the capabilities of its Muse AI agent by introducing real-time voice conversations, a development announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg. This new voice mode is currently available in the Muse app for iOS users in the United States. During interactions, the avatar associated with Muse animates synchronously with spoken words, enhancing the sense of a conversational experience. Users can customize the voice tone of their Muse agent either by describing their preferences or by selecting from multiple preset options in the avatar settings.

Initial user experiences highlight that Muse responds promptly during voice chats, although the system may pause briefly when retrieving information or performing checks, similar to the pauses observed during text-based queries. The avatar animation provides visual feedback aligned with the spoken content, although some users find certain avatar renditions, especially those mimicking real individuals like Mark Zuckerberg, somewhat uncanny.

Meta underscores that this voice interaction and expressive avatar functionality are currently rolling out across the US in the app. Looking ahead, the company plans to integrate these features into its smart AI glasses, as well as the forthcoming Muse Charm gadget, which is expected to ship later this year. These enhancements mark a significant step in Meta’s efforts to create more engaging and natural AI-personal assistant interactions, blending speech and visual expression within its AI ecosystem.
