TikTok is transforming from a social media platform into a versatile super app, adding restaurant guides, payments, travel booking, sports hubs, games, and more to meet users' diverse digital needs.

TikTok is steadily evolving beyond its original focus as a short-video social media platform into a multifaceted super app, aiming to become a one-stop destination for a wide range of digital activities. This strategic shift includes several recent and planned feature additions that span discovery, commerce, entertainment, and finance.

One significant development is the launch of “Must Eat,” an in-app restaurant guide that aggregates recommendations from over 40 million posts and comments. This feature allows users to browse and filter restaurants by city, cuisine, price, and rating. By providing curated restaurant lists within the app, TikTok positions itself as a competitor to platforms like Yelp and Google Maps, enhancing its role in users' daily choices.

In the financial space, TikTok is reportedly developing peer-to-peer money transfer capabilities through direct messages, leveraging its existing TikTok Pay system used for TikTok Shop purchases in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, the company has sought authorization from Brazil's central bank to operate as a fintech offering lending and payment services.
