The final installment of Denis Villeneuve's Dune adaptation, set nearly two decades after Part Two, will premiere December 18, 2026, featuring a new assassination plot and expanded cast.
Warner Bros. has unveiled the final trailer for Dune: Part Three, the concluding chapter of director Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi saga. Scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, just before the holiday season, the film continues the story roughly 17 years after Part Two, delving into the consequences of Paul Atreides' rise to power.
The trailer highlights Paul Atreides, portrayed by Timothée Chalamet, now a ruthless Emperor grappling with a brewing assassination conspiracy that involves Chani, played by Zendaya. The official synopsis reveals a tense narrative of old allies returning, new threats emerging, and betrayal lurking in every shadow, as Paul confronts the true cost of his rule and the fate of those he holds dear.
Returning cast members include Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, and Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho. New additions to the cast feature Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia, Paul's younger sister; Robert Pattinson as the antagonist Scytale; Isaach de Bankolé as Farok, a former Fedaykin of Paul; Nakoa-Wolf Momoa portraying Leto II Atreides, Paul and Chani’s son; and Ida Brooke as Ghanima Atreides, their daughter.
Denis Villeneuve’s film draws from Herbert’s novel Dune: Messiah, focusing on the political and personal turmoil following Paul Atreides' consolidation of the Imperium. The trailer portrays a moody and action-driven progression of the story, emphasizing themes of power, prophecy, and loyalty.
Dune: Part Three is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18, 2026, positioning itself alongside major releases such as Avengers: Doomsday. Fans of the series can anticipate a dramatic and expansive conclusion to Villeneuve’s adaptation of this legendary science fiction epic.
