Indian startup Matiks has raised $10 million to grow its math, logic, and puzzle gaming app, which now boasts over 2 million monthly users and features a new AI-powered game creation platform.
Matiks, an India-based gaming startup specializing in math, logic, and brain-teaser puzzles, announced it has raised $10 million in pre-Series A funding to accelerate the growth of its gaming platform. Founded by college friends Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar, and Sushant Timmapur, the company aims to make math-related games as engaging as popular physical sports or mainstream mobile games. The funding round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Indian entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala and existing investors InfoEdge Ventures, Tanglin Venture Partners, and Untitled Ventures, bringing Matiks’ total raised capital to over $13.5 million to date.
The Matiks app, which launched two years ago, has seen substantial traction in 2026, growing daily active users from 22,000 earlier in the year to more than 300,000 by September. Monthly active users reached 2.2 million in that month, illustrating strong user engagement. The platform offers multiple game categories including Math, Puzzle, Memory, and Logic, allowing users to practice against bots or compete against real players. Completion of challenges and quests rewards points and unlocks new games. Notably, Matiks has recently started testing a subscription model that provides users with advanced game analysis, tips, practice features, and additional content, while also enabling in-game purchases for gameplay enhancements.
While Matiks predominantly has an Indian user base, it has observed growing interest in markets such as the U.S., South Korea, and Japan, with plans to introduce localization support to better serve these regions. The startup employs 41 full-time staff and intends to use the new funding to scale its platform and expand internationally.
In addition to its core games, Matiks has unveiled an experimental AI-driven game creation platform named Jelo. Jelo empowers users to design their own games and share them with others, entering a competitive space alongside offerings like Google’s Playground. Although Matiks is positioning itself against the oversaturation of AI-generated content on many platforms, it integrates AI thoughtfully to foster creativity and user engagement.
General Catalyst partner Rahul Humayun praised Matiks’ rapid product iteration and strong community engagement, indicating these as promising signs for future monetization. Matiks continues to focus on providing enjoyable, brain-stimulating entertainment that challenges users beyond passive content consumption, seeking to carve out a niche in both established and emerging gaming markets.
