Apple's iOS and macOS 27.2 updates introduce Siri's contextual memory, expanded data access, app exclusion controls, new language support, plus refreshed Music app design and additional features across platforms.

On October 26, 2026, Apple rolled out its 27.2 updates across multiple operating systems, including iOS, macOS Golden Gate, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS, prominently featuring improvements to its Siri AI assistant and new user interface elements.

The iOS 27.2 update marks a significant step forward for Siri AI by enabling it to remember and reference prior conversations, enhancing the assistant's continuity and responsiveness to user queries. Moreover, Siri's accessible data sources have expanded to include contacts in Calendar events, voice messages, attachments in Messages, Safari browsing history, and Reading List items. This broadened access aims to deliver more contextual and comprehensive answers.

Users also gain new control over privacy with the “Excluded Apps” feature, allowing them to specify which applications Siri, Search, and on-device suggestions may access. Granular text selection now enables users to select and copy specific parts of Siri responses, improving interaction detail.

Significantly, Siri AI's language support extends beyond English to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, although the feature remains unavailable in the European Union and mainland China.

Additional iOS enhancements include context-aware suggestions in Messages that can convert conversational cues into actionable items such as calendar invitations, and Shared Albums in Photos now allow editing of captions and comments and provide expiration reminders to help preserve important memories. New support for SynthID watermarking aids in identifying images generated or modified by AI-based tools.

The Podcasts app redesign introduces separated sections for new episodes and continued listening, while the Games app Friends tab offers friend recommendations and recent gaming activity insights. The Apple TV app now supports individual user profiles, tailoring recommendations per household member. FaceTime has been enhanced to permit adding third-party sign language interpreters or live captioners.

macOS Golden Gate 27.2 incorporates similar Siri AI advancements, allowing retention of conversational context and sourcing more personal data. It also features the same contextual suggestions within Messages and includes various bug fixes and security improvements.

On visionOS and watchOS, parallel updates bring new language options for Siri and the refreshed Apple Music icon. Early indications from macOS 27.2 beta releases hint at new gesture recognition capabilities in apps like Photos, Notes, and Safari, possibly linked to upcoming MacBook Pro hardware enhancements.

Overall, these updates emphasize Apple's ongoing focus on intelligent personal assistance, user privacy control, and richer, more personalized media experiences across its software ecosystem.
