IBM and Scuderia Ferrari HP expand their AI-driven mobile app, adding real-time race timelines, AI-generated race summaries, and interactive games to deepen fan interaction ahead of the 2026 United States Grand Prix.

As Formula 1 fans gear up for the 2026 United States Grand Prix at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, IBM and Scuderia Ferrari HP have introduced significant upgrades to the Scuderia Ferrari mobile app to enrich the fan experience. These new AI-powered features leverage IBM's watsonx technology alongside IBM Bob and IBM Consulting Advantage to offer fans enriched engagement with the team’s race events.

The standout addition is the Automated Race Timeline, which delivers a visually scrollable summary of key moments during every session—including driver pit stops, fastest laps, weather changes, and Virtual Safety Car deployments—allowing fans to follow the race in near real-time through a clear, concise format.

Furthermore, the app’s Race Summaries have been broadened to cover all session types, such as practice, sprint, qualifying, and the main race. Utilizing AI agents rebuilt with IBM watsonx, these summaries distill complex race data and strategic insights from the drivers and team principal into engaging narratives generated within minutes of each session’s end.

Within the app’s Game Center, the new Pitstop Reaction Game challenges fans to quickly select the correct tire type, simulating the rapid decisions required during races. This game features a global leaderboard where fans can compare scores, alongside existing quizzes and predictor leagues that foster friendly competition and community interaction.

Beyond race weekends, the app deepens fan connection through the Tifosi Hub, a dedicated section for fans to share personal six-word stories reflecting their passion for Scuderia Ferrari. The team showcases these stories, emphasizing the pivotal role fans play in inspiring the squad.

Lorenzo Giorgetti, Chief Racing Revenue Officer at Scuderia Ferrari HP, highlighted the aim to bring fans closer to the action and the team’s competitive spirit through technology-driven experiences. Jonathan Adashek, IBM’s Senior Vice President and Chief Global Affairs Officer, emphasized IBM’s role in using AI to clarify the nuances of racing, enhancing fans’ understanding and involvement.

Since relaunching the app in May 2025 with AI integration, Scuderia Ferrari reports a 35% increase in cumulative downloads and a 36% rise in average monthly active users within the first year, along with a 35% boost in engagement sessions. Behind these gains, IBM’s deployment of more than 70 reusable AI skills and over 30 AI agents has improved productivity in the app’s product development lifecycle by 30%, demonstrating the practical advantages of AI in sports technology.

The revitalized Scuderia Ferrari mobile app is available for download on Apple App Store and Google Play Store, representing a significant step in blending AI innovation with fan interaction in motorsport.

This collaboration exemplifies IBM’s broader mission to apply hybrid cloud and AI technologies to transform industries worldwide, including sports entertainment, where immersive and intelligent digital experiences are becoming essential to global fan engagement.
