Blacksmith, a platform streamlining AI-assisted software testing and integration, raised $66 million in a Series C round led by Sequoia, reaching a $1 billion valuation.
Blacksmith, a technology platform aimed at facilitating the building and testing of software—including AI-generated code—has achieved a $1 billion valuation following a $66 million Series C funding round led by venture capital firm Sequoia. Founded to ease the continuous integration (CI) process, which involves building, testing, merging, and validating code changes, Blacksmith addresses the growing challenges companies face in managing the scale of CI necessary today, especially as AI increasingly contributes to software development.
CEO and co-founder Aditya Jayaprakash highlighted the company’s mission to make CI less painful and underscored the critical question of trustworthiness as autonomous agents generate more software. Blacksmith’s platform supports software teams by running extensive automated tests to ensure code reliability and security.
The company reported a 17-fold increase in annual recurring revenue and has processed over 90 million individual automated CI jobs. Blacksmith counts organizations like Mercury and Granola among its customers.
Remarkably, this Series C round comes just two months after a $45 million Series B that valued the company at $550 million, and a year after Blacksmith’s Series A round raised $10 million at a $60 million valuation. The company has now raised a total of $125 million to date, signaling rapid growth and investor confidence in its AI-focused software quality assurance platform.
