Meta launches 'Your Algorithm' on Facebook, enabling users to directly adjust their feed preferences using AI, with real-time updates reflecting interests and dislikes across posts and Reels.

Meta has introduced a new feature called "Your Algorithm" on Facebook that empowers users to customize their news feed and Facebook Reels through direct interaction with the feed's AI-driven ranking system. This innovation allows individuals to add or manage topics they want to see more or less of, providing real-time personalized recommendations. Users can engage with this feature by marking posts as "interested" or "not interested," either from a menu or through buttons under individual posts. Meta also notes it may prompt users with follow-up questions to better understand their preferences, which can be communicated in users' own words.

This development builds on similar capabilities previously launched on Instagram and a counterpart feature called "Dear Algo" on Meta's Threads platform. Meta emphasizes that these AI-powered tools leverage large language models (LLMs) to interpret users' natural language inputs, intent, and contextual cues, enabling a dynamic and interactive algorithm users can "actually talk to." The system adapts recommendations in real time, even within the same session, to reflect evolving user interests.

By integrating LLMs into the feed ranking process, Meta aims to provide a more responsive and transparent content discovery experience, allowing users greater control over what they see on their social media platforms. This approach marks a notable shift from static recommendation algorithms toward more interactive and user-driven content curation.

Meta's introduction of "Your Algorithm" on Facebook signifies an ongoing effort to enhance personalization through AI, addressing user desires for more agency in managing their social media consumption. The feature is currently available on Facebook, expanding the AI customization capabilities that have been progressively rolled out across Meta's ecosystem.
