From October 13, 2026, Withings requires new users to pay $99.50 yearly to sync data from its devices to apps like Apple Health and Google Health, while existing users retain free syncing.

Withings, known for its fitness-tracking smartwatches and smart scales, has announced a significant change in how users can sync their health data with third-party apps. Starting October 13, 2026, new Withings accounts will require a paid subscription called Withings Plus to enable automatic syncing to popular health platforms such as Apple Health and Google Health.

The Withings Plus subscription is priced at $9.95 per month or $99.50 per year. New users receive a one-month free trial that includes this syncing capability. After the trial expires, syncing will be paused, though the data already transferred to third-party apps will remain unaffected.

Existing Withings users, whose accounts were created on or before October 12, 2026, will not be impacted by this change. According to a member of Withings’ support team, these longstanding users will continue to enjoy automatic data syncing without any subscription fees. Importantly, this benefit is account-based rather than device-based, meaning that even if existing users purchase and register new Withings hardware, their free access to third-party synchronization persists.

This policy shift restricts new users from freely syncing their health data to external apps without incurring additional costs, potentially affecting integration and user convenience. Meanwhile, loyal customers who have used Withings’ ecosystem prior to the cutoff date can maintain their current seamless connectivity.

The move reflects a broader trend among health device manufacturers exploring subscription models to monetize data services beyond the initial hardware sale. Withings’ update may influence how consumers weigh the costs and benefits of adopting its devices versus competitors.

While some users may welcome enhanced features under the Plus subscription, others may view the new fee as a barrier to accessing integrated health data. For now, the update exclusively impacts new accounts after mid-October 2026, leaving existing users’ experiences largely unchanged.
