Google Health introduces Fitbit Edge device, upgrades Fitbit Air with new activity features and style options, and partners with Flo Health to deepen women's health support within its app and coaching services.

Google Health is continuing its ambitious evolution toward becoming a proactive and personalized health companion, marking the next phase in its journey with several significant updates announced on October 12, 2026. Building on the recent release of the Google Health app, Health Coach, and Fitbit Air tracker, the company reported that ongoing improvements have been driven by user feedback, resulting in 10 releases and 55 feature updates over recent months.

A centerpiece of this update is the introduction of Fitbit Edge, a new wearable device positioned between the lightweight Fitbit Air and the more powerful Pixel Watch 5. Designed specifically for active lifestyles, Fitbit Edge combines performance with accessible real-time guidance, acting as a convenient on-wrist extension of the Google Health Coach. This new device aims to deliver glanceable insights and actionable health information to its users.

Enhancements to the Fitbit Air include advanced passive cardiometabolic trend tracking through new Health Guardian features, along with improved accuracy for recognizing over 100 workout types. To complement these technical upgrades, Fitbit Air now offers new Metal Mesh bands, allowing wearers to transform their fitness tracker into a stylish accessory suitable for everyday wear.

Addressing the distinct health needs of women, Google Health has formed a partnership with Flo Health, a leading female health app. This collaboration integrates comprehensive cycle, pregnancy, and menopause guidance directly into the Google Health app and Coaching services. It reflects a commitment to supporting often underserved and generalized aspects of women's health through both technology and ongoing research.

The company also highlighted the recruitment of new leaders and experts, including Performance Advisor Stephen Curry, aimed at accelerating innovation and expanding the capabilities of health technology within Google’s ecosystem.

Google Health positions its efforts as an ongoing journey committed to adapting to users' lives, learning from their experiences, and continuously refining its tools. The goal remains to help individuals live longer, healthier lives by shifting from fragmented data tracking to an integrated, insightful health experience across devices and software.
