IBM Launches 'Ready for SAP Solutions' to Modernize ERP and Boost AI Readiness

IBM introduces Ready for SAP Solutions to help midsize businesses accelerate cloud ERP modernization, unify data, and prepare for AI, exemplified by Volumetric Building Companies cutting operational cycle times by half.

On October 7, 2026, IBM announced the launch of IBM Ready for SAP Solutions, a consulting and technology service aimed at helping midsize and fast-growing organizations modernize their cloud ERP systems, unify enterprise data, and establish AI-ready digital cores. The solution integrates IBM's industry expertise, fit-to-standard delivery, and the AI-powered IBM Consulting Advantage platform.

Early adopters include Volumetric Building Companies (VBC), a global modular construction firm, which reported a 50% reduction in operational cycle times across purchasing, manufacturing, and inventory processes following a three-month SAP Cloud ERP transformation with IBM. Another client, Second Nature Brands, used the solution to integrate its acquired Voortman Bakery business, creating a unified enterprise platform to better support its operations and scalable growth.

According to VBC's COO Chris Macies, the modernization provided unified visibility across the supply chain and manufacturing, enabling faster, more informed decision-making and setting the stage for future automation and AI initiatives. Second Nature Brands’ VP of IT Jeff O'Gradney highlighted that the solution expedited integration and expansion of a common platform, helping scale the merged business efficiently.

IBM's Global Managing Partner for Consulting, Dr. Tom Janoshalmi, emphasized the growing need for businesses to operate with speed and predictability, pointing out that an AI-first approach requires a modern and connected enterprise foundation. Research from the IBM Institute for Business Value found 68% of enterprises view accelerating ERP modernization as key to operational efficiency and competitiveness.

SAP's Santina Franchi noted that combining intelligent technologies with integrated processes and governance unlocks substantial enterprise value from AI. The partnership's methodology aims to enable clients to go live with SAP Cloud ERP within weeks, creating a strong platform for expansion within the SAP Autonomous Enterprise.

Currently, IBM Ready for SAP Solutions is available in select countries and industries, with plans for broader global and sector expansion. This offering reflects a broader industry shift toward ERP modernization to support AI and digital transformation agendas.
