Apple has announced the kickoff of Indie Games Week on the App Store, spotlighting a curated selection of seven highly acclaimed indie games from independent developers. Available now for iPhone and iPad, the event showcases innovative titles such as Sifu, Vampire Crawlers, and the upcoming mobile debut of Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky, slated for October 28.
Apple’s head of App Store Worldwide, Carson Oliver, emphasized the importance of indie developers, stating that the App Store provides a global stage for bold, creative visions. He highlighted the artistry, design, and storytelling of the featured games that exemplify the risk-taking spirit pushing gaming forward.
Sifu, a stylish third-person brawler centered on a young kung fu student’s quest for revenge, arrives fully adapted for touch and controller play with a reworked camera system on iPhone and iPad. Vampire Crawlers offers a gothic card battler experience combining strategy and dark humor, spinning off from the popular Vampire Survivors with tactical deck building and dungeon runs.
No Man’s Sky, the space exploration odyssey celebrating over a decade of expansions including the latest Cosmos update, will launch on mobile devices later this month. It delivers a procedurally generated infinite universe rendered at runtime, enabling players to explore, trade, fight, and command space stations on the go.
Other titles joining the spotlight include Little Kitty, Big City, where players navigate an open-world metropolis as a curious cat; 9 Kings, a strategic kingdom builder featuring card-based battles; Dome Keeper, an alien mining simulator with action-defense gameplay; and Yes, Your Grace 2: Snowfall, a kingdom management game involving difficult moral decisions.
Throughout the week, the App Store will feature daily highlights and collections celebrating the creativity of independent developers. Additionally, curated guides are available for indie games on both the App Store and Mac, helping players discover standout titles beyond the spotlight.
This dedicated week aims to recognize and promote the diverse imaginative experiences emerging from smaller studios and solo creators, reinforcing Apple’s support for innovative gaming on its platforms.
