Hello Games announces No Man’s Sky is coming to iOS on October 28, offering the complete game minus multiplayer and planetary settlements, with new controls and optimized battery usage.

Hello Games is bringing its celebrated sci-fi exploration game, No Man’s Sky, to iOS devices, with the mobile version set to launch on October 28. Available for iPhone 11 and later, as well as the 3rd generation iPad Air and newer models, this release promises the substantial content and gameplay that has defined the game over a decade. According to Hello Games’ founder, Sean Murray, the iOS version will deliver nearly the entire No Man’s Sky experience, incorporating all major updates including the extensive Voyagers expansion from last year. The only notable exclusions at launch are multiplayer features and the planetary settlements system.

Reflecting on past expansions to platforms, Murray compared the iOS launch to the game’s original Switch debut, emphasizing that the studio will continue to support and build the iOS edition based on player feedback and community engagement, similar to their approach with Nintendo’s console. The mobile release includes newly designed touch controls, alongside compatibility for controllers, screen casting, and mouse and keyboard support specifically for iPad users.

Noteworthy efforts have gone into optimizing performance for mobile play, particularly battery life and thermal management, enabling extended, comfortable gaming sessions on handheld devices. The game’s download size is relatively modest at about 5GB. At launch, No Man’s Sky on iOS will offer a "free to try" option, though details on the pricing of the full game have not been disclosed.

No Man’s Sky, which debuted in 2016, has evolved greatly, expanding to multiple platforms including Mac, PC, consoles, and VR. Its continuous stream of free expansions, like the recent Cosmos update, has enriched the game universe with a wealth of new explorations. Bringing No Man’s Sky to iOS marks a significant expansion of the game’s accessibility and reach into mobile gaming.
