Ten years after its debut, No Man's Sky launches on iPhone and iPad with all major content expansions, including procedural universe generation and space station command features, supporting devices from iPhone 11 and iPad Air 3 onwards.
No Man’s Sky, the space exploration and survival crafting game developed by Hello Games, is now available on iPhone and iPad devices. Announced by Apple and Hello Games in October 2026, the mobile version brings the game’s expansive universe to handheld devices such as the iPhone 11 or later and the third-generation iPad Air onward. This release marks a significant milestone, coming over ten years after the game’s original launch.
The iOS version includes all the major content expansions the game has received over the years, notably the Cosmos update, which allows players to command their own space stations. Unlike many AAA titles that might compromise performance for mobile hardware, No Man’s Sky’s hallmark is its procedural generation technology that creates vast galaxies uniquely and dynamically on devices at runtime, rather than storing millions of assets.
However, there are some limitations on iOS platforms. The ability to build and explore player-created planetary settlements is restricted to the iPhone 15 Pro and later models, while multiplayer modes are not supported on any iOS device at launch. Hello Games has noted it will monitor player engagement on iOS to determine future update support, indicating that content expansions may depend on community size.
Control options are flexible, with touch controls finely tuned for the game’s menu-heavy interface. The iPhone version also supports game controllers and the ability to cast gameplay to a television, while the iPad adds mouse and keyboard input support as well. Hello Games invested three years in developing the iOS port, following a recent macOS release that was well received.
This launch coincides with Apple’s Indie Games Week, a curated event spotlighting independent games debuting on the App Store, showcasing titles like Sifu and Vampire Crawlers alongside No Man’s Sky. The game is priced at $19.99 with a free trial option available. Its app size remains under 5GB, reflecting the efficient procedural content generation rather than vast preloaded assets.
Overall, No Man’s Sky’s arrival on iPhone and iPad offers a remarkable space-faring adventure in a pocket-sized format, continuing its notable redemption from a challenging launch to a beloved staple of sci-fi gaming.
