Google Health and Flo Health announce a strategic partnership to integrate data and provide tailored wellness guidance across women's health stages, emphasizing privacy and advanced wearable technology.
Google Health has announced a significant multi-year partnership with Flo Health, a leading female health platform serving over 80 million users monthly, to advance personalized health experiences for women. This collaboration aims to create a unified, empowering approach to managing women’s health by linking data from Flo's app with Google Health’s wearable and app metrics.
Starting early next year, users will be able to securely sync their Flo Health app data with Google Health, uniting cycle tracking with biometric measurements from devices such as the Google Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 5, and the new Google Fitbit Edge. This integration includes metrics like resting heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, and sleep stages, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of women’s health influenced by monthly cycles and life phases like pregnancy and perimenopause.
Further, Flo Health’s data will be incorporated into Google Health Coach to provide personalized, cycle-aware coaching through Google Health Premium. Users navigating diverse health phases will receive actionable guidance based on their combined data profiles.
Beyond app integration, the partnership commits to pioneering research into underrepresented women’s health areas, including perimenopause and postpartum recovery. Additionally, Google and Flo plan to co-develop new products built on Flo’s health insights and Google's expertise in wearable technology and advanced sensors.
Privacy and user control are core to this collaboration, with all data sharing operating on an explicit, opt-in basis. Users can authorize specific data types for designated purposes and revoke permissions at any time. Flo Health data shared with Google Health will not be used for advertising, sold, or made accessible to other developers.
This partnership reflects Google Health's broader strategy to deliver personalized, holistic health support tailored to the unique biology and lifestyles of women, leveraging continuous biometric data from wearables alongside symptom and cycle tracking. It represents a substantial step towards making individualized health coaching and management accessible to women globally over their health journeys.
