OpenAI introduces Intelligent UI in ChatGPT with GPT-6, enabling responses that include interactive diagrams, charts, buttons, and in-line tools for enhanced user engagement and functionality.
OpenAI has launched a new addition to ChatGPT called Intelligent UI, which integrates interactive visuals directly into chatbot responses. This feature is introduced alongside the rollout of GPT-6 models, enhancing how users receive information by combining textual answers with dynamic elements like diagrams, charts, forms, and tappable buttons.
According to OpenAI's recent blog post, GPT-6 has been trained not only to generate relevant textual content but also to decide when to include interactive visuals and how to format them within responses. For example, when asked about the design of a seven-speed bicycle, ChatGPT can present a detailed diagram augmented with buttons that highlight individual parts, allowing users to explore components interactively.
Beyond diagrams, Intelligent UI supports educational and practical tools. ChatGPT can demonstrate how to play Mahjong by displaying visual representations of each tile and organizing them into scrollable categories. It can also generate in-line tools such as a retirement savings calculator, a retro game interface, or a bill splitter, providing immediate functional utilities within the conversation.
GPT-6, unveiled last month, is now available in two versions within ChatGPT: the mid-range Sol model for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, and the more efficient Luna model for Go and free-tier users. This update also improves web search capabilities, allowing ChatGPT to deliver quicker, partial responses while continuing to gather information. OpenAI highlights enhanced safety training resistance in GPT-6, making it more robust against attempts to bypass its safeguards.
The Intelligent UI feature is initially available worldwide to paying subscribers today, with a planned extension to Go tier and free users slated for later in the week. This rollout reflects OpenAI's ongoing efforts to make AI chat interactions more engaging, informative, and practical by incorporating rich media and interactive functionalities directly into conversational AI.
