The Nordic region is rapidly emerging as a European technology powerhouse, building advanced computing infrastructure and AI innovation in partnership with NVIDIA and local industry.

The Nordic countries have become Europe’s leader in unicorn startup density, producing the most billion-dollar startups per capita on the continent. This strong entrepreneurial foundation supports a burgeoning advanced computing ecosystem, as the region accelerates infrastructure and AI development in collaboration with NVIDIA.

Abundant renewable energy, strict data governance, and a robust tradition of linking academia with industry form key structural advantages for the Nordics. They are among Europe’s fastest growing hubs for computing infrastructure, with AI cloud capacity projected to reach 1 gigawatt by 2027 through providers such as Bitdeer, CoreWeave, and others.

A notable development is in Sweden, where a consortium including Ericsson and AstraZeneca has launched Sferical One— a shared supercomputer built on NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs comprising 1,152 GPUs. This platform supports customized AI model deployment using NVIDIA’s Nemotron open models in a secure environment.

Several Nordic companies are creating proprietary AI solutions on NVIDIA infrastructure. Spotify uses NVIDIA TensorRT-LLM inference for efficient, scalable podcast recommendations. ABB Robotics integrates NVIDIA Omniverse to enable hyperrealistic robot simulation for development, achieving up to 99% simulation accuracy and reducing commissioning time by 80%. Finnish telecom Elisa is beta-testing Moontalk AIRI, a real-time enterprise assistant leveraging NVIDIA Nemotron models.

The startup ecosystem also thrives, with Swedish ventures raising $2.8 billion in the first half of 2026 alone. Companies like Stilta, ConfidentialMind, Agaton, and Klang use NVIDIA's open models and tools to enhance patent analysis, cross-lingual retrieval, sales insights, and speech transcription, respectively.

On the autonomous machine front, Swedish freight firm Einride develops self-driving trucks using NVIDIA Hyperion and Cosmos models, while Toyota Material Handling Europe deploys autonomous factory machines with NVIDIA’s simulation technologies, reducing deployment times by half.

Furthermore, Nordic quantum computing research is advancing with NVIDIA’s platform; Stockholm’s FirstQFM optimized quantum processor instruction execution, cutting runtime by a third.

Looking ahead, the Stockholm AI Lab co-founded by NVIDIA and Norrsken Foundation aims to foster AI innovation further starting in 2027. Overall, the Nordics showcase how regional commitment to advanced computing, AI, and open collaboration with NVIDIA can build a formidable technology ecosystem in Europe.
