Apple introduced HomePod mini 2, featuring an advanced Siri AI assistant, immersive audio capabilities including four-speaker surround sound with Apple TV 4K, vibrant new colors, and improved smart home controls, available October 30 for $149.
Apple has announced the HomePod mini 2, the latest iteration of its compact smart speaker, bringing significant advancements in voice assistance, sound quality, and smart home integration. Launching in five fresh colors—pink, green, blue, white, and midnight—the HomePod mini 2 is available for pre-order starting October 13, 2026, with in-store availability from October 30, priced at $149 in the U.S.
Central to the update is the introduction of Siri AI, a next-generation voice assistant powered by Apple’s latest Foundation Models. Scheduled to arrive in a future software update, Siri AI offers a more conversational experience with enhanced personal context understanding and broader world knowledge. When paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, HomePod mini 2 can recognize up to six household voices, personalize responses for messaging, timers, music preferences, and more, and perform complex tasks such as finding recommended songs from texts or managing location-based reminders. Even users without a compatible Apple device will benefit from the richer interaction and expanded knowledge base.
On the audio front, the HomePod mini 2 delivers immersive 360-degree sound utilizing the Apple S10 chip and computational audio techniques that optimize music dynamically. Innovative surround sound support enables users to create a four-speaker setup in conjunction with the new Apple TV 4K (4th generation), intelligently calibrating sound positioning for an enhanced home theater experience. Moreover, the speaker can serve as an audio output for Mac computers, complementing the desktop with matching color options and broad sound for media and communication.
The top of the HomePod mini 2 features Sound Glow, a visual effect that pulses in sync with the music's bass and treble, creating a light show matched to album artwork or selected soundscapes like rain for a relaxing ambience.
Smart home management is streamlined with voice commands controlling locks, garage doors, blinds, thermostats, and lighting. The device functions as a home hub, allowing secure accessory control via the Home app from anywhere. Additional safety features include Sound Recognition for alarms and integration with Apple Home Collection accessories, including video doorbells that use Face Recognition to announce visitors.
Privacy remains a core principle, with Siri AI leveraging on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute to protect user data, ensuring no information is stored or accessible to Apple.
Environmentally, HomePod mini 2 is designed with recycled materials and meets Apple's high standards for energy efficiency, aligning with the company's goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.
Siri AI support in English will roll out in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Compatibility requires HomePod software 27.2 and Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhones or iPads for full features, with some regional and feature-based limitations noted by Apple.
