Deezer plans a new feature letting users exclude AI-generated music from their listening experience, responding to growing demand amid increasing AI track uploads.

Music streaming service Deezer has announced a forthcoming feature that will enable users to filter out AI-generated music from their search results and recommendations. Expected to launch by the end of 2026, the toggle will allow listeners who prefer human-created music to exclude AI-produced tracks, albums, and artists entirely from their streaming experience.

Deezer’s CEO Alexis Lanternier emphasized the company’s response to clear user demand for such a filtering option. A survey conducted last year found that approximately 45% of Deezer users wanted the ability to remove AI-generated content from their music feeds. The increasing volume of AI music uploads—rising from 10% of daily uploads last year to over 50% by mid-2026, with about 90,000 new AI tracks added daily—was cited as a key motive behind the introduction of this feature.

The platform had already implemented AI detection tools in 2025 to track and monitor AI-generated content. By offering a user-controlled toggle, Deezer aims to empower its audience to focus exclusively on music created by human artists if they prefer.

Deezer’s approach aligns with a broader industry trend. Other services have enacted varying policies concerning AI music: Bandcamp has banned AI-generated tracks outright, while Tidal has ceased monetization for such uploads. Spotify has opted to label AI tracks and artists more visibly, without filtering options. Meanwhile, Apple Music reportedly plans to implement AI track labeling by the end of 2026.

In addition to platform labeling and filtering, independent systems for tracking AI music content are also emerging across the industry. Deezer’s new toggle feature represents a significant step toward giving users greater control over AI content in the evolving music streaming landscape.
