Google’s Universal Cart, available now in the U.S., consolidates products across retailers, tracks price changes, applies promo codes, and streamlines checkout with Google Pay.

Google has introduced the Universal Cart, a new intelligent shopping tool designed to enhance the holiday shopping experience for consumers across the United States. Available through Google Search and the Gemini app, Universal Cart aims to organize and simplify online shopping by aggregating items from multiple retailers into a single, manageable cart.

One of the key features of Universal Cart is its ability to save and synchronize products from various stores, eliminating the need for messy browser tabs or scattered screenshots. For instance, users can add a handbag from Steve Madden in Search’s AI Mode, then include a sweater from Quince and lip gloss from Ulta Beauty via the Gemini app, with all items collected in one accessible cart.

The cart leverages Google’s extensive Shopping Graph, which updates over 60 billion product listings continually, to monitor price drops and inventory changes in real time. Shoppers receive timely alerts if a desired product’s price decreases or if out-of-stock items become available again, helping them make more informed purchasing decisions.

Universal Cart also integrates intelligent payment assistance through Google Wallet. By understanding the benefits associated with different credit cards, it can advise users on the best payment method to maximize rewards or savings. Additionally, it automatically identifies relevant promotional codes to further reduce costs.

Checkout is streamlined and secure, allowing users to complete purchases quickly using Google Pay directly within the cart for many major retailers, including Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair, and a wide array of Shopify merchants. Alternatively, shoppers may transfer their cart contents to the merchant’s site to finalize their order. Customer support and transaction records remain with the merchants, preserving consumer trust.

According to Suresh Ganapathy, Senior Director of Product Management for Consumer Shopping at Google, the Universal Cart reflects their vision of creating practical tools that empower shoppers while maintaining control and confidence during the buying process. As the holiday season approaches, this innovation presents a smarter, more organized solution tailored to how people shop today across the Google ecosystem.
