Steam introduces 'achievement sets,' allowing grouping of achievements by base games and DLCs with unique progress tracking and trophies, enhancing user experience.

Valve has unveiled a significant update to Steam's achievement system called "achievement sets," designed to improve how players track and view their in-game accomplishments. This new feature enables developers to organize achievements into distinct groups for the base game and its downloadable content (DLC), making it easier for players to navigate and understand their progress.

Players continue to unlock achievements as usual while playing, but afterward, Steam displays these accomplishments separated into the developer-defined sets. Each achievement set includes its own progress bar, providing a clear visual representation of completion status. Additionally, when a player finishes an entire set, they earn a "set complete" trophy that is visible on their Steam profile, adding a new layer of recognition.

The feature also supports seasonal achievement sets, which developers can archive after the relevant period. This functionality opens possibilities for games to integrate time-limited achievements linked to seasons or special events such as holidays.

Several popular games have already adopted achievement sets, including Against the Storm, Age of Wonders 4, American Truck Simulator, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Crusader Kings III, DREDGE, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Forza Horizon 5, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, PowerWash Simulator and its sequel, Team Fortress 2, and Victoria 3.

Alongside achievement sets, Valve is refreshing the Steam Achievements page to provide an overview of overall progress, detailed progress within each achievement set, and specifics on individual achievements. This update aims to enhance the user interface and make tracking achievements more intuitive.

Currently, these new features are available in the Steam client beta, with a wider rollout expected once feedback is incorporated. Valve's update represents a meaningful improvement for gamers seeking a more organized and rewarding achievement experience on Steam.
