Google has introduced Universal Cart, a US-only shopping tool that consolidates products from multiple retailers, tracks price changes, and streamlines checkout across Google Search and Gemini app.

Google has launched Universal Cart, a new shopping tool designed to enhance the online shopping experience by organizing and tracking products from various retailers in one place. Available now in the United States across Google Search and the Gemini app, Universal Cart aims to simplify how users manage multiple items during their shopping journeys.

The tool acts as a centralized hub, allowing shoppers to save products from different stores—such as Steve Madden, Sephora, and Walmart—directly into a single cart accessible across Google platforms. This replaces the cumbersome practice of juggling browser tabs or screenshots to keep track of items.

Beyond organization, Universal Cart leverages Google's Shopping Graph with over 60 billion dynamically updated product listings to monitor pricing and inventory status. It proactively notifies users about price drops or restocks of saved products, ensuring shoppers stay informed and can capitalize on deals.

Further personalization comes from integration with Google Wallet, which lets Universal Cart recognize a user's credit card benefits and suggest the optimal payment method. It also attempts to uncover applicable promo codes to maximize savings.

For checkout, Universal Cart supports secure and streamlined payments via Google Pay or the option to transfer saved items to a retailer's own site to complete the purchase. Supported merchants include popular brands such as Nike, Target, Ulta Beauty, and numerous Shopify sellers. Customers receive confirmations and support directly from the merchants, who remain the sellers of record.

Universal Cart utilizes Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), an open standard introduced earlier in 2026, designed to facilitate cooperation between AI agents and retailers throughout the shopping process, including checkout.

This launch is part of Google’s broader push to integrate AI innovations into commerce, complementing features like AI-powered product discovery in Search and automated store contact capabilities. As holiday shopping intensifies, Universal Cart promises a smarter, more cohesive shopping method to help consumers save time and money while managing their purchases seamlessly.
