The BSC AI Factory Accelerator Programme offers Spanish AI startups access to high-performance computing, NVIDIA tools, and industry mentorship, fostering innovation across sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and sustainability.
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) has fully launched its AI Factory Accelerator Programme, designed to empower startups in Spain with advanced AI and supercomputing resources. Following a successful pilot phase, the programme provides access to sovereign computing infrastructure, technical support, and training to accelerate innovation across various industries.
Several startups participating in the programme are also members of NVIDIA's Inception initiative, which supports cutting-edge AI companies. Starting now, these startups can access select BSC AI Factory services directly through NVIDIA Inception’s portal, augmenting their development capabilities with NVIDIA’s deep learning courses, business mentoring, and venture capital networking.
At the core of BSC’s offering is MareNostrum 5, a public supercomputing infrastructure powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing. Upcoming expansions of MareNostrum 5 will extend supercomputing access to AI factories throughout Europe, reinforcing BSC AI Factory as one of Europe’s pioneering AI hubs and Spain’s first. Since its April 2025 launch, the AI Factory has delivered over 800 services to clients in both public and private sectors.
Highlighting the programme’s impact, three NVIDIA Inception members were recently named AI Champions during the Accelerator’s demo day. Qatium has deployed its Neural Water Intelligence platform, which leverages proprietary AI models trained on MareNostrum 5 to assist over 250 water utilities across 16 countries in optimizing their operations. This platform integrates NVIDIA technologies including cuGraph, PhysicsNeMo, and Nemotron.
OneCareAI, spun out from BSC research, developed AI-driven ECG analysis tools using NVIDIA NIM microservices. Their technology identifies hidden atrial fibrillation in seemingly normal heart rhythms, potentially preventing strokes by enabling early clinical intervention.
Avatia is another standout startup; it created a voice-first, multi-agent system that supports pharmaceutical sales representatives and provides doctors with curated medical information. This solution incorporates NVIDIA NIM microservices, the Nemotron open model family, and the NeMo Curator library.
The broader cohort includes startups targeting precision agriculture, medical imaging, speech services, enterprise security, sales intelligence, and sustainable packaging. Companies like Agrikola AI and Pack2Earth exemplify the wide-ranging applications of AI-enabled innovation, from crop protection via robotics to biodegradable packaging alternatives.
Together, these developments illustrate how BSC’s AI Factory Accelerator, in partnership with NVIDIA Inception, is catalyzing AI technology breakthroughs in Spain and Europe. Their collaboration is expanding access to cutting-edge computational tools and expertise, fostering solutions that improve healthcare outcomes, environmental sustainability, and industrial efficiency.
