Russia has introduced the DF-3 'Gadyuka', a reusable jet-powered interceptor that can engage groups of 15–20 drones in a single sortie, travel at speeds up to 850 km/h, and return to base for refueling and rearming.
At the Drone Congress 2026 held in Saint Petersburg, Russia revealed a new reusable jet interceptor named the DF-3 'Gadyuka'. This aircraft is designed to counter multiple hostile drones, reportedly capable of neutralizing up to 20 drones during a single flight. According to Marat Drofa, CEO of the company DOFA-Tec, which developed the DF-3 'Gadyuka', the interceptor can reach speeds of up to 850 km/h and is equipped with automated onboard weapons systems.
Unlike the single-use drone 'Roscherk', which destroys targets by ramming, the 'Gadyuka' employs its automated armament to engage enemy drones. After successfully completing an interception mission, the 'Gadyuka' returns to its airfield, where it can be refueled, rearmed, and prepared for subsequent sorties. This reusability feature marks a significant advancement in drone interdiction capabilities.
Currently, the 'Gadyuka' project remains in the technical development phase. The interceptor was publicly showcased for the first time at the forum. Its introduction reflects Russia’s focus on enhancing its aerial defensive measures against the increasing threat posed by swarms of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The development of such an interceptor addresses the tactical challenge of neutralizing large groups of drones efficiently. The ability to engage multiple UAVs in one mission with rapid turnaround could strengthen air defense systems by reducing reliance on expendable interceptor drones and increasing operational sustainability.
Further details on the 'Gadyuka’s' capabilities, deployment timelines, or integration into existing air defense frameworks have not been disclosed. However, DOFA-Tec’s announcement positions this interceptor as a notable innovation in Russia’s counter-drone technology portfolio.
