Apple is expected to release all-new MacBook Pro models in about 1 to 1.5 months, featuring thinner and lighter designs, OLED touch displays, and the Dynamic Island interface replacing the notch.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the new MacBook Pro lineup from Apple is anticipated to arrive within the next month or month and a half. Unlike typical chip refreshes seen over the past five years, these upcoming MacBooks will introduce significant design and hardware changes.
The new models will be thinner and lighter, though the exact difference in weight is unclear. Currently, the 14-inch MacBook Pro weighs approximately 1.6 kg, and the 16-inch model about 2.15 kg. A modest weight reduction to around 1.5 kg and 2 kg respectively would be considered a success.
A notable change is the shift from traditional IPS displays to OLED screens that support touch input, a first for MacBooks, though the practical use of touch on a laptop screen remains uncertain.
The signature notch at the top of the screen will be removed and replaced by the Dynamic Island feature, an interactive area that currently appears on iPhones and integrates Live Activities, known officially as "эфиры активности" in Russian.
Internally, Apple has reportedly re-engineered the MacBook’s layout, contributing to the slimmer form factor beyond just the display technology update.
Hardware upgrades include the introduction of new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, continuing Apple’s trend of using their custom silicon in professional laptops.
While Apple has been generous with these enhancements, pricing remains a key question amid broader economic challenges. Existing models start at around $2500 for the 14-inch and $3000 for the 16-inch with the current M2 Pro chip, and it is uncertain if the new versions will maintain similar entry pricing.
No exact release date has been officially announced yet, but the launch window is drawing close, making it advisable for potential buyers to consider waiting for these upcoming MacBook Pros before upgrading their current machines.
