Apple is preparing a range of smart home accessories in close partnership with LG Electronics, featuring a doorbell, thermostat, and indoor and outdoor cameras. The devices will be branded LG but designed and overseen by Apple, expanding Apple's smart home ecosystem.
Apple is gearing up to significantly expand its smart home product lineup with a collection of new devices developed jointly with LG Electronics. As reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and highlighted by Wylsacom, this collaboration includes smart home accessories such as a video doorbell, thermostat, as well as indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras. Unlike typical Apple-branded products, these new devices will be sold exclusively under the LG brand. Apple has directly curated the development process and approved the designs, ensuring the products fit their ecosystem standards and privacy values.
This unique partnership allows Apple to quickly broaden its smart home ecosystem while transferring the manufacturing and support responsibilities to LG, which benefits from re-establishing a stronger presence in the US market that has been increasingly dominated by Amazon and Google. Despite the positive synergy, the timing comes with challenges, especially given recent accusations against LG concerning potential privacy issues linked to their television sets' microphones. Privacy is a key selling point for Apple’s smart home approach, so LG will need to address these concerns effectively.
All new products will integrate into a unified smart home ecosystem, controlled primarily through Siri voice commands. However, with Siri currently lacking Russian language support, these devices are not expected to impact the Russian market significantly.
Apple is expected to unveil a long-anticipated smart home hub on October 13, 2026, while the rest of the accessory lineup is projected to become available toward the end of the year. This move represents an important step for Apple in strengthening their position in the smart home sector by offering a broader array of accessories designed to complement their existing ecosystem and enhance user experience through seamless connectivity and privacy-focused technologies.
