Paramount Pictures is producing a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie, partnering with CD Projekt Red. Details on release date remain undisclosed as the game franchise expands with sequels and Netflix adaptations.

Paramount Pictures has announced plans to adapt the popular sci-fi video game Cyberpunk 2077 into a live-action feature film. According to a report from Deadline, Paramount will produce the movie with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on the Transformers films, serving as a producer. CD Projekt Red, the Polish developer behind Cyberpunk 2077, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, with joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski stating the company looks forward to sharing more details in due course.

Cyberpunk 2077, despite a problematic launch in 2020, has significantly grown in success and popularity, having sold over 40 million copies. The franchise has also expanded into other media forms, including a hit Netflix anime series whose second season is debuting soon. Moreover, CD Projekt Red is actively developing a sequel tentatively titled Cyberpunk 2, with a substantial development team of 184 people reportedly involved.

This cinematic venture emerges shortly after the completion of a major corporate merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, now operating under the Skydance name. Paramount’s growing interest in game-based adaptations is further evidenced by their work on a Call of Duty film slated for a 2028 release and the upcoming Street Fighter movie scheduled to premiere on October 16.

While specific premiere dates or casting details for the Cyberpunk 2077 film have not been revealed, this announcement reinforces the continuing trend of translating successful video game properties into feature films, highlighting Paramount’s commitment to this expanding entertainment sector.
