AvtoVAZ plans a significant refresh of the Lada Iskra, launching in Q4 2026 with a 120-hp 1.6L engine, automatic transmission options, climate control, and remote start capabilities.
Russian automaker AvtoVAZ is set to release an extensively updated version of the Lada Iskra in the fourth quarter of 2026, introducing several notable technical and comfort enhancements. According to information provided to Avito Auto Magazine by AvtoVAZ’s press service, the refresh aims to elevate the Iskra’s performance and equipment offerings, aligning it with modern consumer expectations.
The heart of the upgrade is a modernized 1.6-liter engine delivering approximately 120 horsepower. This powertrain upgrade is in line with AvtoVAZ’s strategy, as the same engine is slated for use in the upcoming Lada Azimut crossover. Buyers will be able to choose between a 6-speed manual transmission and a continuously variable transmission (CVT), diversifying the model’s appeal.
Significant strides have been made in the vehicle’s interior features. The updated Iskra will gain climate control equipped with rotary knobs that incorporate small digital displays showing temperature and air flow direction, reminiscent of those found in the Lada Vesta. Keyless entry, a push-button start system, and remote engine start functions will also be introduced, enhancing convenience and modern usability.
For the Lada Iskra SW Cross, a rugged station wagon variant, AvtoVAZ will add a driving mode selector system, allowing drivers to adjust vehicle settings according to varying road conditions, thereby improving versatility and off-road capability.
While these new features represent a considerable upgrade, pricing adjustments are expected but have not been detailed. Currently, the base sedan starts at around 1.277 million rubles, while the SW Cross begins at approximately 1.657 million rubles.
This update reflects AvtoVAZ’s ongoing efforts to modernize its lineup and remain competitive in the Russian market by integrating enhanced performance and comfort technologies into existing models.
