Mark Wahlberg is opening Municipal Gym, a wellness club offering blood tests, recovery therapies, and fitness amenities at a fraction of high-end longevity clubs' prices, aiming to create an accessible health ecosystem.

Mark Wahlberg, known for his diverse business ventures and acting career, is set to open Municipal Gym in December 2026, marking his most passionate project to date. Located near Las Vegas, the 32,000-square-foot facility blends diagnostics-heavy wellness features like blood work, epigenetic testing, compression therapy, and cold plunges with fitness and nutritional offerings including a café serving protein muffins. Wahlberg envisions Municipal Gym as a more affordable alternative to the prevailing costly longevity startups, which often demand annual fees exceeding tens of thousands of dollars.

This new gym concept stems from Wahlberg's earlier endeavor launching an athleisure brand, Municipal, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although clothing proved a challenging arena, the brand evolved from Wahlberg's experience as a celebrity fitness ambassador and his desire to impact people’s overall well-being beyond apparel sales. Municipal Gym extends this vision by integrating exercise, nutrition, recovery, and health monitoring into one comprehensive wellness system.

Unlike exclusives such as Fountain Life and The Estate, which target affluent clients with high-priced memberships reaching $30,000 or more annually, Municipal Gym aims to democratize access to advanced wellness services. For example, Wahlberg shared that $99 membership packages could include three rounds of blood tests and a consultation with a physician tailored to individual health risks. Additional offerings like supplements and hormone therapies will also be part of the ecosystem.

Wahlberg’s strategy involves creating inviting physical spaces where members are encouraged not only to exercise but to linger and participate fully in their health journey, a contrast to the quick-session model of brands like F45, in which Wahlberg previously invested and from which he learned valuable lessons. He emphasized the importance of surrounding himself with partners who share his philosophy and a commitment to helping members actively engage in improving their lives.

The name Municipal reflects Wahlberg’s personal background, growing up in a large, working-class family in Boston, playing on public courts and learning resilience and competition from an early age. He aims for the gym to embody community, fun, mutual support, and personal challenge—elements he relates to overcoming adversity.

At 55, Wahlberg expressed a shift in priorities from aesthetics to holistic well-being, focusing on feeling good daily and managing his busy life spanning film commitments and family. While he’s not currently seeking new ventures beyond Municipal Gym, he remains open to future opportunities that align with his passions.

With an ambitious growth plan supported by favorable real estate terms, Municipal Gym could establish itself as a distinctive player in the wellness industry by marrying accessibility with comprehensive health services, potentially reshaping how longevity and fitness are approached for broader populations.
