JustWatch, known for its streaming search guide used by 50 million people, has launched JustWatch TV, a streaming platform offering free ad-supported movies and shows, a $3.99 monthly ad-free tier, and movie rentals across 12 markets.

JustWatch, widely recognized for its streaming search engine and guide accessed by 50 million users worldwide, has expanded its business by launching its own streaming service called JustWatch TV. Traditionally serving as a comprehensive "TV Guide" for streaming content, the company now offers a platform where viewers can watch movies and shows directly through its new service.

The streaming platform, available in 12 markets including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, France, and Australia, features content from over 30 partners such as Paramount, New Regency, and Fremantle, alongside regional partners like Cineverse in the U.S. and LEONINE Studios in Germany. JustWatch TV integrates within the existing JustWatch apps and website, bridging the gap between content discovery and direct viewing.

JustWatch TV offers a free ad-supported tier featuring a selection of titles, competing with services like Tubi and Plex. Additionally, it includes an ad-free subscription option, JustWatch TV Plus, priced at $3.99 per month or a lifetime subscription for $49.99. This paid tier provides more than 300 ad-free titles in the U.S. and features advanced filters and options to hide previously viewed or disliked content. Subscribers also receive a 10% discount on hundreds of movie rentals available through the JustWatch TV Store.

The rental store is initially accessible in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, with plans to expand further. JustWatch's content largely comprises older and independent titles, aligning with the pricing models of similar low-cost streaming services like Roku’s Howdy.

Quentin Carbonell, JustWatch’s SVP of Global Content Acquisitions and Strategy, highlighted that this new direct streaming venture complements the company’s mission to serve as a comprehensive entertainment hub. Offering viewers direct access to content helps grow their audience and strengthen ties within the streaming ecosystem.

Notably, JustWatch also allows users to influence future content on its platform by requesting titles they wish to see, enhancing user engagement and tailoring the service to viewer preferences.

Through this strategic move, JustWatch aims to leverage its extensive user data and insights to deepen its role in the streaming industry, evolving from a discovery tool to an active streaming provider.
