Otter.ai raised $320 million from General Catalyst’s growth fund to accelerate enterprise growth, international expansion, and product innovation for its AI-powered meeting transcription and insights platform.

Otter.ai, a leading AI-driven meeting note-taking platform, has raised $320 million from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund (CVF), which invests in startups by providing capital tied to marketing performance without diluting equity. This funding aims to fuel Otter.ai’s enterprise expansion, enhance its go-to-market efforts, boost international reach, and accelerate product innovation.

Founded nearly a decade ago, Otter.ai has amassed 40 million users to date—an increase from 25 million last year—and recently surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). While exact current revenue and monthly active user figures remain undisclosed, the company reports it is approaching new milestones.

Otter.ai continues to develop advanced AI functionalities to transform voice data captured in meetings into actionable business insights that improve team productivity and decision-making. Its platform features a meeting assistant, advanced search across apps, and integrates with other AI tools. The company is actively exploring innovations such as pre-meeting briefings with contextual information derived from previous discussions, and a Live Assist feature that allows users to query an AI assistant during meetings for instant answers.

The market for AI meeting productivity tools is competitive, with companies like Fireflies.ai, Granola, Read AI, and newer entrants such as Calendly, Wispr, and Superhuman (which acquired Fathom) also developing solutions that connect to enterprise systems and automate workflows from meeting data.

Otter.ai’s recently appointed Chief Marketing Officer, Alex Gay from Superhuman, highlighted the challenge posed by back-to-back meetings common in sales and customer-facing roles, where inefficiencies arise due to time spent recapping prior discussions. Otter.ai aims to address this by creating more actionable and accessible meeting transcripts.

General Catalyst’s CVF partner Pranav Singhvi emphasized the untapped potential of voice data in enterprise AI, noting Otter.ai's leadership in capturing and turning voice content into strategic insights that enhance organizational productivity.

With this substantial investment and focus on innovative features, Otter.ai is positioning itself at the forefront of AI applications in enterprise meetings and productivity tools.
