Meta has introduced 'Your Algorithm,' an AI-driven feature on Facebook that lets users personalize their Feed and Reels by expressing content preferences in natural language, enhancing content relevance and user influence over recommendations.

Meta has announced an innovative AI-powered feature called "Your Algorithm" for Facebook, following its initial launch on Instagram. This new tool empowers Facebook users to take a more active role in shaping the content displayed in their Feed and Reels by communicating their preferences directly using natural language.

Unlike traditional automated recommendation systems that determine content visibility based mainly on past behavior and algorithmic predictions, "Your Algorithm" allows users to specify the types of topics and posts they wish to see more or less frequently. By translating user input into real-time adjustments, the platform aims to deliver highly relevant and personalized content.

The update also enhances Facebook’s user interface. The familiar three-dot menu on individual posts now includes options to access "Your Algorithm" directly or mark posts as "Interested" or "Not interested." Moreover, Facebook may engage users with follow-up questions to clarify their preferences, encouraging more detailed feedback and refining content suggestions accordingly.

Meta positions this feature as part of its broader efforts to give people greater influence over their social media experience as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integral to content discovery. The approach parallels personalization trends seen in streaming services, where users have long been able to customize recommendations based on their stated interests.

This rollout on Facebook builds upon Meta’s prior personalization initiatives across its platforms. Instagram first introduced "Your Algorithm" in December 2025 for Reels, expanding it to Feed and Explore by June 2026. Additionally, Meta’s new social app Threads has introduced "Dear Algo," a related tool enabling users to shape their content feed.

Together, these developments illustrate Meta’s shift toward more transparent and user-controllable recommendation systems, aiming to enhance user satisfaction by letting individuals tell the AI what matters most to them directly in their own words.
