Ultrahuman has joined with Abu Dhabi health authorities to develop a wearable-agnostic biological age model, aiming for national scale deployment across the UAE over the next two years.

Bengaluru-based health technology company Ultrahuman, recognized for its smart rings, has announced a two-year partnership with the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center (ADPHC) to create and clinically validate a biological age model. This model integrates clinical biomarkers with data from wearable devices to estimate the pace of an individual's aging process while assessing contributing factors such as sleep quality, physical activity, cardiovascular health, and metabolism.

Unlike Ultrahuman's hardware-centric origins, CEO Mohit Kumar emphasized the company's shift towards leveraging health data for broader applications. The smart ring serves primarily as a data collection tool underpinning algorithms focused on aging, longevity, and overall health. Collaborating with Abu Dhabi's health authorities allows Ultrahuman to extend its algorithms' reach beyond its existing customer base of around 800,000 smart ring users globally.

The biological age model is designed to be wearable-agnostic, capable of integrating data from various devices including rings, wristbands, straps, and patches, along with relevant clinical biomarkers. The goal is to make this model accessible to the UAE population through government digital health platforms like TAMM and Sahatna.

The partnership commits Ultrahuman and ADPHC to a two-year development and validation timeline, with phased rollout plans yet to be scheduled. While Ultrahuman currently derives approximately 4% to 5% of its revenue from the UAE—a market where customer retention rates are notably higher than elsewhere—deploying the model nationally will expose it to more diverse age groups than the company’s typical 25-to-43-year-old user base.

The underlying model uses Ultrahuman's existing datasets, combining user chronological age, wearable data signals, and where available, blood test markers to monitor typical health marker changes with age and identify deviations. Importantly, this model will be deployed on UAE data without being trained on it, and the company will not have access to personally identifiable information through the initiative.

Ultrahuman's partnership complements other preventive health collaborations in Abu Dhabi, including a separate initiative involving smart ring maker Oura, though Ultrahuman states it is not aware of any company working specifically on the biological age model with the Abu Dhabi authorities. The move reflects Ultrahuman's ambitions to expand beyond hardware and develop advanced health algorithms, including future smart rings capable of running on-device software for AI interactions and gaming.
