Town, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup specializing in AI assistants for businesses, announced it has achieved a unicorn valuation following a $108 million Series B funding round. Co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures, this round elevates Town's total funding to at least $160 million since its inception. The company publicly launched just four months ago and reportedly reached millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue within a few weeks after launching. Founded by Jean-Denis Greze, formerly the CTO of Plaid, Town provides every employee in a company with a dedicated AI assistant, called a Townie. These AI assistants integrate with critical workplace tools such as email, calendars, and other core systems to help users manage various tasks efficiently. A distinctive feature of Townies is their ability to communicate and share approved information among themselves, and recently, they gained the functionality to collaborate with customers and external parties. Along with the funding announcement, Town introduced a shared workflow system that automatically updates employees’ AI assistants with current business information, eliminating the need for manual updates. In addition to the lead investors, renowned venture firms including Andreessen Horowitz, Serena Ventures, and First Round Capital participated in the Series B round. Town is among numerous new AI assistant startups entering the market, aiming to enhance workplace productivity by leveraging AI-powered personalized assistants. The company has yet to provide detailed comments beyond the official funding announcement.
