Google updates its AI-powered Search to feature more visible inline links, dedicated official site sections, news carousels, and creator profiles to improve user access to source information and deepen exploration directly from AI responses.

Google is rolling out significant improvements to its AI Search features to make it easier for users to access and explore the web through AI-generated responses. According to a recent company blog post, the updates focus on making inline links more prominent and frequent within AI answers, helping users connect directly to source websites from the moment they start reading. These inline links, which are embedded in relevant phrases or keywords, now appear higher up in AI responses to ensure key sources are immediately accessible.

Beyond inline links, Google is introducing dedicated sections in AI Search that prominently feature official websites when a query involves tasks that have just one or two authorized destinations—for example, booking airline refunds. These links come with contextual information to assure users about their relevance and credibility.

News discovery is enhanced through the broader rollout of visual carousels showcasing timely articles. These carousels support multiple locales and languages and highlight users’ Preferred Sources, making it easier to find diverse and valued news coverage efficiently. Furthermore, links at the end of AI responses are redesigned to be more visually engaging, now featuring image thumbnails and a more clickable interface, inviting users to dive deeper into related content and viewpoints.

In a novel addition, Google is testing clickable profiles for creators and publishers in AI Mode video results. These profiles offer quick insights into the content producers behind the results, aiming to provide more transparency and context about the sources.

Google also reports that over 400 publishers have joined its News AI pilot program, initiated last December. This licensing initiative compensates these publishers for enhanced content usage in AI features such as detailed article overviews on Google News publisher pages. Prominent news organizations like Axios, CNN, and the Financial Times are among the participants.

These updates collectively strive to make AI Search not only more informative but also more trustworthy and user-friendly by linking AI-generated summaries back to their original sources. The changes reflect Google's ongoing commitment to integrating AI capabilities with seamless web exploration, emphasizing source visibility and content discoverability for users worldwide.
