European public sector adopts NVIDIA’s open AI models to enhance services, maintain data control, and customize solutions for local languages and needs, fostering projects from healthcare imaging to sovereign cloud AI deployments.
European governments and organizations are embracing NVIDIA’s open AI models to modernize public services while safeguarding sensitive data and infrastructure control. Open models enable authorities to evaluate, adapt to local languages and needs, and operate AI workloads securely on infrastructure they govern. This approach allows transparent assessment of training data compliance and mitigates bias risks.
In Germany, a consortium including secunet, NVIDIA, Red Hat, and deepset is developing a sovereign cloud tailored for classified information, integrating NVIDIA’s accelerated computing with open source models, enterprise orchestration tools, and secure infrastructure hosted in German data centers. Complementing this initiative, the Sovereign Open Source Foundation Models project is building region-specific datasets like Nemotron-Personas-Germany, providing synthetic user profiles based on census data to test AI model consistency across demographics and areas.
Poland advances healthcare and employment AI capabilities with Deloitte’s help, employing NVIDIA DGX BasePOD systems and MONAI frameworks for medical imaging analysis, improving diagnosis speed and prioritization. Simultaneously, a labor office support platform is being developed to assist job seekers via digital assistants and document analysis using open models such as PLLuM and GPT OSS.
The U.K.’s Locai Labs introduced Nemotron-Personas-UK, a dataset with one million synthetic personas mirroring the nation’s diverse population, facilitating bias testing and healthcare evaluation. France’s CANUT has launched a sovereign collaborative workspace powered by Twake.ai and NVIDIA speech transcription, streamlining digital services access for public institutions.
Greek company KIEFER is building an AI agentic platform on NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD hardware tailored for Greek-language public administration tools, enhancing knowledge retrieval and digital assistant functions.
At the European Commission, deepset’s Haystack Enterprise Platform underpins AI@EC, a shared AI application platform supporting document summarization, multilingual analysis, and knowledge management with NVIDIA Triton Inference Server. It incorporates governance features such as role-based access and audit trails.
Additionally, NVIDIA’s Open Models Codefest program fosters collaboration among European startups and labs, accelerating the development of locally controlled AI solutions for public challenges including medical reasoning and AI tutoring, supported by infrastructure from Deutsche Telekom and T-Systems.
Through these diverse projects, NVIDIA’s open models promote secure, customized AI adoption in the European public sector, balancing technological advancement with data sovereignty and compliance demands.
