Reddit has launched new homepage feeds: the 'Following' feed shows posts from subreddits users follow, while the 'For You' feed combines those with recommendations tailored to user interests, aiming to enhance content discovery and personalization.

Reddit is updating its homepage experience with the introduction of two distinct feeds: "Following" and "For You." This change, announced and already appearing for some users, is part of Reddit's ongoing efforts to simplify its platform and improve personalization of the Home feed.

The new "Following" feed displays posts exclusively from subreddits that a user has subscribed to, giving users direct control over the content they see. Meanwhile, the "For You" feed combines posts from the user's subscribed subreddits with recommended posts from related communities, aiming to surface novel and relevant content based on user interests. For instance, a user might see suggestions from subreddits they've only recently visited but do not follow.

This shift moves away from Reddit's traditional homepage feeds such as r/all, which highlighted popular posts from across the platform. Earlier in the year, Reddit announced plans to deprecate r/all as part of these personalization improvements. According to Reddit, the intention behind the "For You" feed is to foster discovery that could lead to new ideas, perspectives, and interests, thus supporting a more engaging and human-centric internet experience.

Users who prefer Reddit's classic homepage can still access "Old Reddit" via old.reddit.com or in their settings. However, Reddit has indicated that access to "Old Reddit" may be restricted unless actively used, encouraging users to transition to the new feed experience over time.

Overall, these updates reflect Reddit's strategy to deliver a more tailored and user-centric browsing experience, balancing familiar community content with personalized recommendations to enhance engagement and content discovery.
