XREAL AURA, the first wired XR glasses running Android XR, offers a lightweight design with spatial app projection and Gemini AI assistance for work, entertainment, and gaming on a private virtual canvas.

Google and XREAL have introduced the XREAL AURA, a pioneering pair of wired extended reality (XR) glasses powered by Android XR technology. These glasses represent a new category of wearable computing devices, designed to project applications, movies, games, and digital content seamlessly within the user's real-world environment while maintaining clear visibility of the surroundings through transparent lenses.

The AURA glasses weigh under 95 grams, relying on a connected portable compute puck for processing duties. This puck houses a battery and the Qualcomm Snapdragon® Reality Elite platform—debuting in this device—to deliver high-performance spatial computing without burdening the eyewear itself. This division allows users extended comfort alongside robust computational power.

With a 70-degree field of view, the glasses offer ample space for multiple spatial and 2D apps to be opened and arranged at any preferred size. Users can connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse or utilize the puck as a trackpad to establish a mobile desktop-like setup anywhere—from a couch to an airport seat or plane tray table. The system supports Wired Mirroring, enabling plug-and-play connection of laptops via USB-C cables for displaying and resizing laptop screens alongside Android XR apps without installing additional software.

Central to the experience is Gemini, Google’s AI assistant integrated on the Android XR platform. Gemini can understand and assist with real-time tasks spanning the user's view—from managing app windows to providing context-sensitive help based on what’s displayed or present in the room. It supports natural conversation, can share the user’s view for collaborative assistance, and excels at multitasking support.

Beyond productivity, the AURA glasses create a private theater experience. Users can enjoy content from YouTube, Google TV, and other streaming platforms on a virtual screen that can be dimmed to reduce ambient distractions but remains transparent to detect people nearby. The glasses support immersive media formats such as 180/360-degree videos and 3D movies, and introduce spatial view features turning ordinary videos, photos, and games into 3D content with a single tap.

Gaming is another highlight, with access to thousands of Android games and compatibility with PC and console streams via Wired Mirroring. The glasses accommodate XR-optimized games featuring natural hand interaction and come preloaded with titles such as Fallout Factions and Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars.

Started accepting orders on October 28, 2026, the XREAL AURA is available for purchase in the U.S., Canada, and Korea, with Japan opening orders November 2. The launch price is set from USD 1,099 through the end of the year, available at xreal.com and major retailers like BestBuy.com. This product targets personal users 18 and over, with enterprise deployment options also under consideration.

By combining a lightweight physical form factor, advanced XR capabilities, an integrated AI assistant, and broad app compatibility, XREAL AURA aims to redefine portable spatial computing for work, entertainment, and gaming in everyday environments.
