Apple unveils MacBook Pro featuring the new PROLED XDR tandem OLED display, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, Touch input for the first time on Mac, dynamic island feature, enhanced audio, and up to 24-hour battery life in thinner, lighter designs.
Apple has announced its latest MacBook Pro models, introducing the first-ever PROLED XDR display on a Mac laptop. This new tandem OLED screen offers groundbreaking brightness up to 2000 nits, an unprecedented 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a wider color gamut including P3 and Adobe RGB, delivering an exceptionally vivid and color-accurate visual experience tailored for demanding professional workflows. The display’s advanced panel technology and factory calibration ensure uniform brightness and grayscale, even in bright environments, while supporting industry-standard reference modes for filmmaking, design, and medical imaging review.
For the first time on a MacBook Pro, Apple has integrated Touch capabilities directly into the display panel, enabling refined multi-touch interactions such as pinch-to-zoom, drag-and-drop, and new creative possibilities for graphic design, music production, and video editing through apps like Pixelmator Pro, Logic Pro, and Final Cut Pro. Complementing this is the introduction of the Dynamic Island interface on Mac, which hosts Spotlight search, Live Activities, and Siri AI, allowing users to access information and controls seamlessly.
Inside, the MacBook Pro models are powered by Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips — the company’s most powerful processors to date — offering robust CPU/GPU performance, up to 128GB of unified memory, and storage options up to 16TB. A new six-speaker sound system enhances audio fidelity with deeper bass and clearer sound, while macOS 27 Golden Gate delivers improved AI features, smart app enhancements, and security.
The laptops feature a slimmer and lighter chassis, weighing 3 pounds for the 14-inch model and 4 pounds for the 16-inch, with new thermal architecture maintaining performance despite the reduced size. Pro connectivity includes three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, SDXC card slot, MagSafe charging, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6. Battery life reaches up to 24 hours, with fast charging enabling 50% charge in 30 minutes.
Available for pre-order starting October 28, the new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch begins shipping November 6. Pricing starts at $2,899 for the 14-inch with M5 Pro and ranges up to $4,799 for the 16-inch with M5 Max configurations. Apple also emphasizes environmental considerations, utilizing recycled materials and renewable energy in manufacturing.
This comprehensive upgrade marks a significant leap in MacBook Pro technology, blending cutting-edge display innovation, touch interactivity, computing power, and professional-grade features designed to enhance creative and technical work on the go.
