Arrowmax's Arrowspace S1 electric screwdriver uses a built-in camera and AI to identify screw heads, automatically adjust torque, and guide bit selection via a mobile app, aiming to simplify and improve precision in screwdriving tasks.

Arrowmax has introduced the Arrowspace S1, an electric screwdriver that integrates a camera and artificial intelligence to streamline identifying screw types and selecting the correct bit. Unlike traditional screwdrivers which rely on users manually picking the appropriate bit, this tool aims to eliminate trial and error that can lead to stripped screws and harder repairs.

The Arrowspace S1 features a small camera paired with an LED light positioned underneath the device to capture detailed images of screw heads. To optimize image clarity for its AI processing, the screwdriver includes a "precision contact probe" that extends to rest on the screw surface, ensuring consistent focus distance.

Once the camera captures the screw head, the embedded AI model analyzes the image and identifies the exact type and size of bit required. This information is then relayed to a companion mobile app which displays the recommended bit. Additionally, the screwdriver can automatically set a safe torque level appropriate for the identified screw, reducing the risk of damage.

To complement this smart detection, Arrowmax offers an optional S1 Smart Bit Case containing 52 steel bits. This case features LEDs next to each bit that light up to indicate the correct bit once identified, simplifying bit selection for users.

Powering the device is a 600mAh rechargeable battery, which the company claims can last up to 90 minutes of continuous use or tighten/loosen over 900 screws under typical conditions. The screwdriver includes an OLED screen displaying battery charge, current torque setting, and rotation direction.

The Arrowspace S1 is currently available for preorder on Kickstarter, priced around $79 for the screwdriver alone. Bundling it with the Smart Bit Case increases the price to about $129. Full retail pricing is expected to be higher. Shipping is scheduled for no earlier than April 2027.

This innovation reflects a trend toward embedding AI and smart features into traditionally manual tools, enhancing user convenience and precision in hardware tasks. Arrowmax previously crowdfunded other products, indicating experience in bringing tech-enhanced tools to market.
