Apple's Siri AI, a redesigned intelligent assistant, gains support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish in the iOS 27.2 update, enhancing its conversational abilities while preserving user privacy.
Apple has broadened the language capabilities of its reimagined Siri AI with the rollout of its 27.2 software updates across multiple platforms including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS. This update introduces expanded support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish languages, joining English and several others already supported. The new Siri AI represents a significant evolution of Apple's digital assistant, emphasizing more natural conversation, personalization, and privacy preservation. Built upon the Apple Intelligence framework, Siri AI leverages personal context from users' messages, emails, photos, and more to assist dynamically with everyday tasks such as composing emails from scratch or editing photo collections. It also has screen awareness, enabling it to respond to queries or commands concerning currently displayed content, and it can access broad world knowledge to provide up-to-date information on a wide range of topics. Apple outlined that further enhancements to Siri AI language support are planned, with Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese expected before the end of the year. The feature is currently available in beta form on Apple Intelligence-enabled devices set to supported languages, but it is not accessible within European Union regions on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS yet, as Apple continues collaborative efforts to address regulatory requirements there. Additionally, Siri AI is restricted to users aged 13 and older and is subject to daily usage limits tied to server-side model processing, which may differ by feature and demand. Apple has indicated intentions to offer expanded access options for a fee in the future under specific terms. This language expansion is part of Apple's ongoing commitment to enhance intelligent assistance while retaining user privacy and broad device support.
