Apple has unveiled its latest iPad Mini, featuring an 8.5-inch OLED display, A20 Pro chip, IP67 rating, and advanced connectivity options. The device goes on sale this week starting at $699 in the US.

Apple has continued its streak of device releases by introducing the newest iteration of its iPad Mini, set to be available for purchase later this week and reaching customers early next month. This latest model marks a significant upgrade in performance and features, catering to both existing fans and new users. Priced from $699 for the Wi-Fi-only version and $849 for units with mobile connectivity, the iPad Mini offers storage variants of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. It is offered in two color options: midnight and starlight.

Apple highlights that the device is compact enough to fit in the palm of a hand yet delivers a "huge leap" in processing power and wireless performance. The iPad Mini is rated IP67 for resistance against water and dust ingress, enhancing its durability in various environments.

The tablet sports an 8.5-inch OLED display that presents twice the peak brightness compared to earlier mini models, providing a visually superior experience. Powering the device is Apple's new A20 Pro processor, which the company states brings significant advantages particularly for AI-related computing tasks.

Running on iPadOS 27, the iPad Mini includes updated versions of Apple’s Intelligence features and Siri assistant, which are designed to offer personalized user interactions. Dave Pakula, Apple’s Vice President of Hardware Engineering, noted the device’s popularity among creators, small business owners, medical professionals, field workers, and gamers alike.

Audio capabilities have been enhanced with improved speakers featuring custom tweeters, offering "punchier bass" and greater volume output. Camera arrangements include a 12MP unit located on the landscape edge, optimized for video, and a similarly sized camera on the rear suited for photography and videography.

In terms of connectivity, Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip supports the latest standards including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread—a secure, low-power mesh networking protocol intended for Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The iPad Mini measures 5.4mm in thickness, with additional dimensions reported as 195.3mm by 132.6mm. Overall, Apple’s latest iPad Mini blends portability with advanced technological enhancements, appealing to a broad range of users seeking a powerful yet compact tablet experience.
