Nokia has entered a five-year deal with Indian engineering firm L&T Technology Services to support its R&D in 5G, AI-driven network automation, and next-generation computing infrastructure through a dedicated offshore development center.

Nokia is expanding its research and development presence in India through a strategic collaboration with L&T Technology Services (LTTS), a prominent Indian engineering services company. The two firms have agreed to a five-year contract that focuses on enhancing Nokia’s innovation capabilities in critical technology areas including 5G, artificial intelligence-based operations, and next-generation computing infrastructure.

Under this agreement, LTTS will establish a dedicated offshore development center designed to provide comprehensive engineering support for Nokia’s product development initiatives. This center will cover a broad spectrum of tasks such as embedded systems, software and system integration, and product engineering and development specifically tailored to telecommunications and data center infrastructures.

Financial details of the contract remain confidential. Nevertheless, LTTS will construct a specialized engineering team to collaborate closely with Nokia’s global R&D units, facilitating a seamless exchange of expertise and accelerating innovation cycles.

Vivek Jaiswal, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Nokia, emphasized India’s significance as an innovation hub and expressed confidence in LTTS’s role to help expand Nokia’s R&D footprint. He highlighted the necessity of sustained investment in advanced connectivity technologies to support the growing demands of AI applications.

For LTTS, this partnership aligns with its strategic focus on the development of AI infrastructure and next-generation computing technologies, reinforcing its position as a key provider of AI, digital, and engineering R&D services across more than 25 countries.

This collaboration takes place against the backdrop of Nokia’s broader strategic emphasis on AI infrastructure and advanced connectivity as pivotal growth areas during what CEO Justin Hotard described as a “super cycle” in technology advancement. The initiative illustrates Nokia’s commitment to accelerating innovation through strengthened global R&D alliances, particularly in the fast-evolving telecom and AI sectors.
