Wonder, a food delivery and technology company valued at $9 billion, has filed confidentially for an IPO as it pursues major growth and acquisitions including Grubhub and Blue Apron.
Wonder, the food delivery startup that has evolved into a broad food technology company, has taken a significant step toward becoming publicly traded by confidentially filing for an initial public offering (IPO), according to a November 2026 report by TechCrunch. Founded in 2018 by serial entrepreneur Marc Lore, Wonder has developed a unique model that goes beyond traditional delivery apps. The company operates food hall-style venues where customers can order from multiple restaurant brands using a single platform, managing all aspects from meal preparation to dine-in, pickup, and delivery.
Lore, known for founding Jet.com and Diapers.com, has long planned to take Wonder public. This plan gained prominence in July 2026 when Wonder raised over $650 million, valuing the company at approximately $9 billion. The funding round included major investors like Accel, GV, AllianceBernstein, and ARK Invest.
Wonder has aggressively expanded its presence and capabilities through acquisitions, including meal-kit provider Blue Apron, restaurant delivery service Grubhub, media company Tastemade, and kitchen robotics firm Spyce. The integration of Spyce's automation technology is expected to streamline food preparation and improve service efficiency. The company aims to grow further, particularly in Texas, targeting more than 100 new locations by the end of 2027.
Innovative offerings also include Wonder Create, a platform that enables food entrepreneurs and social media influencers to develop new restaurant brands using artificial intelligence, designed to launch concepts in under a minute. Additionally, Wonder has formed a $425 million partnership with DoorDash to expand its campus dining business across over 450 colleges and universities.
Despite these strides, Wonder faces a challenging competitive environment with established delivery players like DoorDash and Uber Eats. The upcoming IPO is poised to support Wonder's ambitions but will also expose it to the scrutiny and pressures of public markets. As of the filing, details such as share quantity and pricing remain undisclosed.
Wonder's move to go public marks an important phase in the evolution of food delivery services, blending technology, automation, and multi-brand dining experiences to carve out its niche in a crowded market.
