Dallas-based investment firm Disruptive has raised a $10 billion fund to invest large sums in at least 10 late-stage companies, focusing on capital-intensive sectors like AI and defense.
Disruptive, an investment firm headquartered in Dallas and known for backing high-profile startups such as Palantir, Airbnb, and Spotify, has announced the launch of a new $10 billion fund. This fund is intended to back a minimum of 10 late-stage companies, with individual checks potentially reaching up to $1 billion each. The firm is targeting sectors that require substantial capital investment, notably artificial intelligence and defense.
Founded in 2012 by Alex Davis, the grandson of billionaire oil magnate Marvin Davis, Disruptive has previously invested in notable AI-related companies, including chip startup Groq and AI voice-generation company ElevenLabs. While these investments were made through deal-by-deal special purpose vehicles, this new fund represents Disruptive's first blind-pool fund—meaning investors commit capital without prior knowledge of the specific companies to be supported.
According to reports, Disruptive had secured at least $7.5 billion in commitments earlier in the fundraising process, and its previous investments have yielded over $6 billion in returns on roughly $1.9 billion deployed. The new $10 billion fund is also recognized as the largest venture capital fund ever raised in Texas. With this substantial capital, Disruptive aims to make transformative investments in tech-heavy and capital-intensive industries, underscoring its commitment to shaping the future of technology innovation.
