Google revealed its Genie 4 AI world model, enabling more realistic, longer interactive experiences with real-time updates and audio generation, aimed at creative and training applications.
Google has announced the development of its latest AI world model, Genie 4, designed to create more immersive and realistic interactive experiences. This new version builds on the previous Genie 3 by introducing four key enhancements. One significant improvement is the ability to generate more lifelike worlds, enhancing the visual and experiential realism for users. Another major feature allows users to update an ongoing experience in real time simply by issuing natural language prompts, making interaction more intuitive and dynamic. Additionally, Genie 4 can now generate audio, an important step toward richer sensory experiences. Underpinning the model is Gemini 3.8 Flash, which supports the model's simulation capabilities and helps maintain performance.
Genie 4 also extends the duration of generated experiences, with the ability to create interactive scenarios lasting about two minutes, doubling the one-minute limit of its predecessor. Google envisions applications spanning multiple creative and practical domains, such as pre-visualization tools for filmmakers, rapid prototyping of game concepts, and training simulations for robots. Despite these advancements, the company cautions that longer simulations may face challenges like shifts in detail fidelity and object permanence over time.
While direct user access to Genie 4 is currently limited to a “research preview” available to trusted testers, Google plans to make it accessible soon to subscribers of its AI Ultra service. An application-based waitlist for Project Genie access has been opened for interested users wishing to try the new model. Demonstrations shared by Google illustrate the potential of Genie 4, including animated scenarios involving motorcycles, watermelons, and cranes, showcasing the model’s improved realism and interaction capabilities.
Overall, Genie 4 represents Google's continued efforts to push the boundaries of AI-driven world simulation, offering new tools that could transform creative production and automated training systems. Further broad access and testing will reveal the model’s full capabilities and practical impact.
