Titan OS secured $46 million in new funding to expand its smart TV operating system internationally, aiming to enhance content discovery and advertising monetization across more geographies.
Barcelona-based Titan OS, a smart TV operating system developer, has announced a $46 million funding round combining equity and debt to accelerate its international expansion. This latest infusion was partly supported by debt facilities from BlackRock-managed funds and existing investors including Highland Europe and Mangrove Capital Partners, boosting Titan OS’s total funding to $110 million.
The company, founded to provide TV manufacturers with an OS that enhances revenue from device sales through partnerships with free ad-supported television (FAST) channels and screen advertising, now serves 30 million users—a significant increase from 18 million last year. Its client portfolio has grown, adding partners such as Sharp, AOC, Vestel, and Skyworth, alongside existing collaborations like TiVo and Tubi in select regions.
A landmark success cited is Philips’ decision to adopt Titan OS for its 2026 TV models, replacing Google TV, which reflects Titan OS’s growing footprint and appeal among manufacturers seeking alternatives to building their own proprietary systems. This expansion improves the operating system’s advertiser reach and audience engagement, creating a "flywheel effect" that draws in more sales partners and marketing agencies.
To capitalize on this momentum, Titan OS plans to invest the new funds in optimizing content discovery, a key user experience priority. The company is leveraging user interface enhancements and AI technology to reduce the time users spend searching for content, emphasizing an impartial role in content recommendations without competing with walled garden platforms offering proprietary content.
Beyond improving viewer experience, AI is also applied to refine ad recommendation and segmentation to maximize monetization opportunities. Titan OS’s CFO, Hyoungung Kim, highlights the economic pressures on TV manufacturers due to rising hardware and chip costs driven by AI developments, reinforcing the necessity for revenue-sharing partnerships like those Titan OS offers.
With expanded offices in London focused on advertising, along with existing hubs in Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Taipei, Titan OS is strategically positioned to grow its market share internationally. The smart TV OS market, traditionally dominated by a handful of manufacturers with in-house platforms, is showing increased openness to third-party systems amid slowing hardware sales and the search for sustainable revenue models. Titan OS aims to meet this demand with its growing ecosystem and AI-driven services.
