Orange España reports a 3.5% rise in third-quarter revenue to €1.91 billion, supported by commercial evolution, B2B expansion, increased device sales, and 5G network projects including rural coverage initiatives.
Orange España posted a 3.5% increase in its revenues for the third quarter, totaling €1.91 billion. This growth brings its nine-month revenue to €5.673 billion, a 2% increase compared to the previous year. The company attributes this acceleration primarily to strong commercial performance, expanding business-to-business (B2B) activities, and new service offerings, which its CEO, Meinrad Spenger, identified as key growth areas.
The wholesale segment generated €491 million in revenue for the first nine months, a 9.5% year-over-year increase, including €179 million in the third quarter alone. Device sales were notably strong, reaching €995 million over nine months, up 18.8%, with a 28% increase in the quarter to €353 million.
Orange España expanded its customer base by 188,000 in the quarter, adding about 12,000 postpaid mobile users, 7,000 fixed broadband subscribers, and 169,000 customers for new services. The average revenue per convergent customer (ARPO) rose to €53.10. The operator manages over 33 million lines excluding machine-to-machine (M2M) connections; including M2M, the total reaches approximately 48 million lines.
The company continues to progress towards its targeted synergies, aiming for over €430 million in accumulated savings by 2026, while reaffirming its adjusted EBITDA (EBITDAaL) targets for the year.
In the B2B sector, revenues grew across all segments, from small independents to large enterprises and public administrations. Orange España secured private 5G standalone network projects at strategic infrastructure locations such as the ports of Barcelona and Valencia and airports in Madrid, Barcelona, and Palma de Mallorca. It is also involved in smart city initiatives, including a digital twin project for Madrid’s city council.
Network expansion efforts included the addition of 235 new 5G sites across 182 municipalities, some with populations of just over 50 residents. Furthermore, the company was provisionally awarded nearly 70% of the €12.2 million funding from Spain’s Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration’s “5G Very Rural Networks” project. The funding supports 82 new sites in remote areas, some currently lacking coverage from any operator.
At the group level, CEO Christel Heydemann highlighted that the Middle East and Africa division again drove revenue growth, with total group revenue reaching €12.2 billion in the third quarter—a 3.6% yearly increase. Other regional increases included 14% in the Middle East and Africa, 5.3% in the rest of Europe, and 3.5% in Spain, while France’s revenue remained stable. The group’s EBITDAaL rose by 4.6% to €4.1 billion, with an updated annual growth expectation exceeding 4.5%.
Heydemann reviewed the progress of the "Trust in the Future" plan, including new partnerships in France, cybersecurity unit growth, the integration of the former MasOrange operator in Spain after a June acquisition, and extended SecNumCloud certification for Orange Business cloud offerings. Plans also include a collaborative letter of intent signed after the quarter’s close with Telefónica, Vodafone Group, and Deutsche Telekom to explore a joint spectrum offering for mobile satellite services, supporting Europe’s infrastructure sovereignty and security ambitions.
Orange continues with its bid to acquire SFR assets from Altice as part of a broader agreement involving Bouygues Telecom and Free–Iliad Group, aiming to formalize the deal by the second half of 2027. The company maintains ongoing constructive social dialogue despite pending proceedings initiated by Altice France’s works council.
