Verizon reported strong third-quarter results and announced a new 1-Gigabit Fixed Wireless Access service leveraging mmWave airwaves, aiming to enhance its broadband offerings.

Verizon Communications has revealed robust financial results for the third quarter of 2026, surpassing previous expectations according to sources from October 28, 2026. Alongside the positive earnings report, the telecommunications giant announced the launch of a 1-Gigabit Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service. This new offering utilizes millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum, a high-frequency band known for delivering ultra-fast wireless connectivity.

The adoption of mmWave technology for FWA allows Verizon to provide high-speed internet services to residential customers without relying on traditional wired infrastructure like fiber or cable. This capability supports rapid deployment in urban and suburban areas where laying physical cables may be costly or time-consuming.

Verizon's integration of 1-Gigabit speeds into its FWA portfolio aims to address growing consumer and business demand for reliable, high-bandwidth internet access amidst increasing digital consumption. The company’s strategic leverage of mmWave spectrum could position it competitively against other broadband providers offering gigabit services.

While specific details regarding availability, pricing, and rollout areas have not been disclosed, Verizon’s announcement marks a significant step toward expanding next-generation broadband solutions. This launch aligns with broader industry trends focusing on enhancing fixed wireless offerings through advanced spectrum utilization.

Verizon’s strong financial performance and this new product initiative suggest continued investment in network technologies aimed at future-proofing connectivity as customer expectations for speed and reliability intensify. Further updates are anticipated as Verizon begins the commercial deployment of its 1-Gig FWA service.
