OpenAI's president Greg Brockman reveals the company is on track for an IPO in 2027, highlighting significant growth in enterprise revenue and new partnerships with major clients like JPMorgan Chase.

OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman has indicated that the company could be ready to go public by 2027. Speaking at a Wall Street Journal technology conference in November 2026, Brockman expressed confidence in OpenAI's current business trajectory, particularly emphasizing its gains in the enterprise market.

Throughout 2026, OpenAI faced some early challenges, with the first two quarters described as "pretty rough". Brockman acknowledged that the company initially lagged behind competitors like Anthropic in agentic coding technologies despite having Codex. However, by maintaining focus and consistent execution, OpenAI began to see a turnaround in the third quarter, achieving a remarkable 70% quarterly growth in annualized revenue. This success was largely driven by an expansion in its enterprise business, which has now become the majority source of revenue for the company, compared to about 30% previously.

Brockman highlighted that while consumer revenue continues to grow, the enterprise segment has notably accelerated. One example includes a recent partnership with JPMorgan Chase, illustrating OpenAI's success in securing large-scale, enterprise-level clients.

The leadership team has also learned critical lessons about serving enterprise customers: identifying key milestones where AI can add value, building trust, and committing to being a reliable long-term partner. Brockman noted a significant shift in perception, where a year ago OpenAI was viewed mainly as a consumer-focused company, but now it is recognized as a serious player in the enterprise AI market.

Overall, Brockman's remarks reflect OpenAI's strategic evolution and readiness to transition from a primarily consumer-facing organization to an established enterprise AI provider poised for an initial public offering sometime in 2027.
